The work of the USRC seismic building rating system will help building owners and occupants better understand the estimated performance expected from the type of building they currently own or occupy so they can make better decisions on whether strengthening is needed or another building solution is necessary. The building rating system will help communities better understand their seismic risk and therefore work to not only reduce loss of life in vulnerable buildings, but also to become more resilient and bounce back from an earthquake sooner, reducing losses to the economy and fabric of the community.
USRC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and is a leading organization for implementing
and disseminating rating systems that describe the
performance of buildings during earthquakes and other
natural hazard events.
